Planning for an emergency

An emergency plan tells people what to do if you cannot care for the person you support.

You might become ill, have an accident or be unable to get home.

Making a plan now can help you and the person you care for feel more prepared.

Write down important information

Your plan can explain who you care for and the help they need.

It can include medicines, health information and important routines.

Explain what the person needs

Write down anything another person would need to know to support them safely.

Keep your plan up to date

Things can change.

Check your plan and update it when medicines, contact details or the person's needs change.
