Sian’s story

Finding confidence, creativity and a way forward.

“For the first time in a long time, I feel like I’m moving forward.”

Sian is 31 and has been living at Sunraye for the past eight months.

During that time, she has taken important steps towards rebuilding her confidence and creating a more stable future.

Her story shows how the right support and environment can help someone rediscover their strengths and start looking ahead with optimism.

Sian’s journey

Sian is 31 and has been living at Sunraye supported accommodation for the past eight months. During that time, she has taken important steps towards rebuilding her confidence and creating a more stable future.

Before moving to Sunraye, Sian had experienced a difficult period in her life following the loss of her mum eight years ago. Without the stability she needed at the time, life became unsettled and she often found herself moving between different places to stay.

Moving into Sunraye gave Sian the opportunity to reset and focus on moving forward.

Creativity and confidence

With the support of the Sunraye team, Sian has been able to focus on her wellbeing and start planning for the future.

One of the biggest steps she has taken is returning to education. Sian is currently studying Level 2 Art and Design at college, something she feels passionate about. Creativity has become an important part of her journey, giving her a positive outlet and helping her focus on what she enjoys.

“Art helps me clear my head and focus on something positive.”
Looking ahead

Sian hopes that in the future she will be able to work with children, using her creativity and her own experiences to help support young people who may be going through challenges of their own.

“Being here has helped me start thinking about my future again.”

With the stability and encouragement she has received, Sian has grown in confidence and is now preparing to move into her own flat, an exciting step towards living independently.

“For the first time in a long time, I feel like I’m moving forward.”
