Supporting carers across Liverpool
Every day, people across Liverpool support someone they care about. Liverpool Carers Centre is here to make sure carers are recognised, informed and supported too.
Support for carers, whatever caring looks like
Caring can mean many different things. It might be helping someone with appointments or medication, managing bills and paperwork, providing emotional support or simply making sure someone is safe and coping.
Through Liverpool Carers Centre, unpaid carers can access information and advice, Carer's Assessments, wellbeing support, groups and activities, and help to understand what other support may be available.
Our impact is about more than numbers. It's about helping carers feel recognised, supported and less alone.

Caring affects more than one part of life
Caring responsibilities can affect someone's health, finances, work, relationships and how much time they have for themselves.
That's why support needs to look at the whole picture. What one carer needs may be completely different from what another person needs.
Sometimes the first and most important step is simply knowing that there is someone you can talk to.
Liverpool Carers Centre can help carers:
Understand their rights and what support may be available
Talk about how caring is affecting their own life and wellbeing
Connect with other carers through groups and activities
Find opportunities to take time for themselves through Mytime
Caring is happening across Liverpool
Behind these figures are thousands of everyday acts of care taking place in homes and communities across the city.
People might describe themselves as “just helping Mum”, “looking after my partner” or “making sure Dad is okay” without ever thinking of themselves as a carer.
The map below helps show just how widespread caring is across Liverpool.
Every pin tells a story.
Behind every point is someone supporting a person they care about. Hover over a pin, or tap it on mobile, to see how someone describes the care they give.
Your experience can help shape what happens next

You can get involved as much or as little as you want. That might mean answering one quick question, sharing an idea or taking part in a longer conversation.

Listening matters most when people can see what happens next. This is where we'll show how carers' experiences and ideas are influencing the way support develops.
It should be easier to see what's happening and find activities that fit around caring.
We've made groups and activities easier to browse online, including ways to find different types of sessions.
Information needs to be easier to find without knowing which service or organisation to ask for.
We've brought practical information, tools, local support and clearer routes into help together in the Liverpool Carers Centre online offer.
There isn't just one way to have a voice
You might want to join a discussion, test a new idea, answer a survey or simply tell us about something that isn't working. Taking part should fit around your caring role — not become another demand on your time.

“I realised I am a carer, I do need support and it's okay to seek help.”
Naheed cares for her daughter Amber, who has a range of complex health conditions. The demands of caring are constant and can be mentally and physically exhausting for the whole family.
A turning point came when Naheed connected with Liverpool Carers Centre. For the first time, she began to recognise that support wasn't only about the person she cared for — her own needs mattered too.
Naheed began attending coffee and chat sessions, support groups and mental health and wellbeing workshops. They became an important part of her routine, giving her space to talk, connect with other carers and take care of her own wellbeing.
“Sometimes I can say something at the Carers Centre that I wouldn't say to anyone else because I know other carers will understand.”
NaheedFinding support for herself, not just the person she cares for
Connecting with Liverpool Carers Centre gave Naheed somewhere she could be understood as a carer and supported as a person.
Recognising her own needs
Naheed's first important realisation was that she was a carer too — and that asking for help for herself was okay.
Connecting with people who understand
Coffee and chat sessions and support groups gave Naheed a community of other carers who understood the realities of caring.
Looking after her own wellbeing
Mental health and wellbeing sessions gave Naheed a safe space to discuss challenges, receive emotional support and develop ways to manage stress and anxiety.
Naheed“The mental health and wellbeing services offered have become a lifeline for me.”
You support someone. We support you.
If any part of Naheed's story feels familiar, you don't have to wait until caring becomes too much before asking for help. Liverpool Carers Centre is here to support you too.
