National Supported Lodgings Week: Opening Doors and Changing Lives

This week we are joining organisations across the country to mark National Supported Lodgings Week (9 – 16 November 2025) and celebrate something very special: people who open their doors and change lives.

Supported Lodgings gives young people who are moving towards independence a place to call home. It might be a spare room in a house or a flat, but what makes it powerful is the person who offers it. It is a home where young people can find safety, stability and a sense of belonging.

Each young person lives with a Householder, someone who offers a room, encouragement and everyday support. Alongside this, our Supported Lodgings team provides professional guidance to help young people build confidence, learn life skills and plan for their future.

Across the Liverpool City Region and North Wales, we see the difference this makes every day. Young people who once felt invisible are now setting goals, starting work or education and feeling hopeful again. And it all begins with one person saying yes.

“It is not about being perfect, it is about being present,” says Mark, one of our householders. “Watching a young person grow in confidence and plan for their own future is incredibly rewarding.”

Later this week we will host the first Supported Lodgings Summit at the LACE Conference Centre in Liverpool. It will bring together young people with lived experience, householders and sector leaders to share learning, challenge thinking and look ahead. The conversations we have there will shape how we recruit and support more householders and ensure every young person can access the help they need.

Supported Lodgings works because it is rooted in people and community. When someone offers a home, they are offering hope, connection and a better future.

Could you host the future?
If you have a spare room and a caring heart, you could make a life changing difference.
