Liverpool Carers Centre, operated by Local Solutions and commissioned by Liverpool City Council, stands as a pillar of support for the estimated over 50,000 carers in Liverpool, and the 6.5 million across the UK who selflessly provide unpaid care for loved ones.
As Carers Week 2024 approaches, Liverpool Carers Centre reaffirms its commitment to recognising, empowering, and celebrating carers through its comprehensive range of services. With this year’s theme, ‘Putting Carers on the Map,’ the focus is on raising awareness of the challenges faced by carers and highlighting their invaluable contributions to society.
Established with the mission to enhance the quality of life for carers in Liverpool, Liverpool Carers Centre offers a variety of supportive services, including carers assessments and a flexible support service providing impartial advice, information, and signposting to specialist organisations tailored to individual needs and circumstances.
Hazel Brown MBE, Head of Communities at Liverpool Carers Centre, emphasises the importance of Carers Week, stating, “Carers Week is an opportunity to raise awareness of caring, highlighting the challenges unpaid carers face, and recognising the contribution they make. Caring for someone else can feel rewarding, but it can also be tiring, frustrating, lonely, and isolating.
“It is vitally important that carers remember to take care of themselves too, which is why raising awareness by ‘Putting Carers on the Map’ is so important.”
