Carers Week 2023

Unpaid carers provide care and support to family members, friends and neighbours. Carers say that providing care can be extremely rewarding, but it can also bring with it many challenges including loneliness and isolation.

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. It also helps people who don’t think of themselves as having caring responsibilities to identify as carers and access much-needed support.

Carers Week takes place from 5th – 11th June and provides the opportunity to shine a spotlight on carers and the work they do, with the theme this year being ‘Recognising and supporting carers in the community’.

Local Solutions Carers Centre, will be delivering 500 ‘Hug in a mug’ to carers across Liverpool. During an ongoing cost of living crisis, soaring energy bills and surging food and fuel prices are a huge challenge for many of us, but for unpaid carers, they are close to impossible. The conditions their loved ones live with will mean it is impossible to turn the heating off or not run the washing machine regularly. They can’t pay their bills but they also can’t cut back.

Local Solutions Carers Centre recognise the difficulties that Carers are experiencing. We want to reassure Carers in our communities that they feel visible, valued, and supported, and are provided with information, and given the support they need to care safely.

Registered carers in Liverpool can receive support from Liverpool Carers Centre, whether they just need advice or are looking to access their Health & Wellbeing activities.
